Finish

Sorry I have not blogged but I forgot. So the cake turned out beautifully. Picture below! I ended up making marshmallow puffs instead of doughnuts. It was 7:00 pm when I finally finished baking and Icing the cake so I decided that logically I could not make doughnuts. My Aunt and Uncle helped decorate the cake by rolling the fondant and cutting the flowers. Everyone at the party loved it. I am sooo happy. On Wednesday I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chip cookies in the middle for school. They sound weird but they tasted really good. My class enjoyed them. I just finished decorating Jack's (my little brother) cupcakes for school tomorrow. I was going to make a swirl on each cupcake and then put sprinkles on them but my bag had a hole in it so I ended up spreading the icing on there then rolling it in sprinkles so it made like a crust. They look ok. Alright I better go to bed before I get in trouble. Night everyone.

  1. Hi!
Once again my silly technique of posting a totally unrelated comment on your blog, so you can see it ;)
As for the Harry Potter Robes, I have already posted a tutorial (not a downloadable pattern however) on burdastyle.com. The tutorial includes how to draft the robe pattern yourself, which in this case is really rather easy. Go and take a look: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/harry-potter-robes Just click on the instructions tab to get to the tutorial.
I will, as soon as I have time, sew my new robe and take pictures in the process and will then try and improve the current tutorial. As I said, I might also create a downloadable pattern, but maybe you can work with the current tutorial for now :)
As for making any other pattern yourself... there is simply no easy way to explain it. I'm not particularly good at it myself, I mostly work out mine by trial and error or by draping on my dressform.
A good start however, is to buy or make basic patterns, you can make most garments simply by altering these.
Burdastyle has some pretty good tutorials on that as well:
    - Simple Skirt: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/how-to-make-a-basic-skirt
    - A-Line Skirt: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/how-to-make-an-a-line-skirt
    - Basic dress: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/basic-dress-sloper-how-to-draft-a-basic-dress-pattern

    I hope I could help you a little :)
Have fun with the sewing machine (I hope your grandmother knows that she might never get it back... that's how it was in my case!) and thank you for reading my blog :)

    All the best,
    Sarah / Serinde
